ACTH resistance

Familial isolated glucocorticoid deficiency (ACTH resistance) is adrenal insufficiency with no shortage of mineralocorticosteroids. Infectious diseases can cause hypoglycemic conditions that can lead to death. The first symptoms usually appear in early childhood.

Other consequences of the deficiency are frequent infections, chronic discomfort, dark skin color and inclination for allergies.

In very few patients, a mutation in the gene of the ACTH receptor was found.
