Kikuchi-Fujimoto's disease

Kikuchi Fujimoto's disease is a benign, self-limiting disease whose hallmark is a sudden swelling of the lymph nodes, accompanied by a persistent or recurrent fever and night sweats. The hard lymph nodes assume a size of 2-3cm.

In the paracortical zone, small necrotizing herds are visible with characteristic plasmacytoid monocytes.

The etiology is still unclear, but it is believed that it is viral. The disease mainly occurs in Japanese and other Asian populations. The ratio of appearance in women and men is 3: 1.
