Motor neuron disease Madras
The motor neurone disease Madras is a syndrome that causes severe limb weakness.
MMND has been described in less than 200 cases so far, most have been found in South India, Thailand and Italy. The patients have a haggard figure, weak and atrophic limbs, multiple paresis of the lower cranial nerves and sensorineural deafness. Some patients have had optic atrophy.
The disease usually manifests itself before the age of 15.
A possible inheritance could not be determined yet.
