Soft tissue sarcoma

Soft-tissue sarcomas are malignant neoplasms that arise from cells of adipose tissue, muscle tissue, connective tissue, nerves, or blood vessels. The cause of these neoplasias is in most cases unclear. Most commonly, soft tissue sarcomas are located on the legs, trunk, or head and neck area.

The first symptom is a non-painful swelling of the affected tissue. If this is on the surface of the body, it can be detected quite quickly. However, if this swelling is in a state of hyperthermia, it will not become noticeable until it causes pain, for example, by pressing on an organ. Through the circulation, soft tissue sarcomas can preferentially metastasize to the lungs. A soft tissue sarcoma is usually treated interdisciplinarily in specialized centers.
